Most of us admire cricketer Sachin Tendulkar for his graceful style of batting, often compared with Australia's great Don Bradman. But I have come to admire Tendulkar for another reason - the state of his mind. The Tendulkar mind has shown a steady character combined with an ability to focus purely on the now. While he has inspired a generation to take up cricket, he can also inspire all of us in the way we live, work and relate to others.Tendulkar himself noted: "My father once told me, 'All things in life are temporary and everything has a deadline, but the only thing that will stay until your last breath is your nature. So you should always behave properly.' The biggest lesson I learnt from him was that he treated everyone equally, whether it was a big well-known writer or a sweeper."AdvertisementWe often hear that the way to success is via being in the now, and Tendulkar has certainly lived this way: "When there is time to think about cricket, I think, but when there is time to be with family, I try to do justice to that aspect of my life as well.
