Jaw crushers are a powerful tool for crushing stone or rock

The specifications will differ depending on what type of crusher you are using. One of the primary considerations in the construction of jaw crushers is the metal used for the crushing mechanism. It has to possess a breaking point that is considerably higher than the stone or rock it is attempting to break down.In order for a jaw crusher to work correctly, the crusher must have two primary metal pieces. One of these does't move or is "stationary." The other progresses inward against that piece in order to crush the stone. This allows the jaw crusher to use both "attrition and compression" to achieve its goal. Two common varieties of crusher include deep and shallow bodied types, the former being designed for greater "rock on rock" crushing.
The jaw crusher operates on the principle located in a reduction ratio. In other words, there needs to be a specific balance between the space of the crushing area and the load or amount of material introduced into it. Jaw crushers demand a general specification of a 6 to 1 reduction ratio.Double-toggle and overhead eccentric are two main types of jaw crushers used to crush rock. The double-toggle model contains a swing jaw, a stationary jaw, an offset eccentric shaft, a pivot point and a double set of toggles. The overhead eccentric style is made up of parts which include a flywheel, adjusting wedges, hydraulic rams, a pullman, a sizing gap and a crushing chamber.
To use a jaw crusher, rock must first be dropped between the machine's metal plates. The metal plates--one stationary, one moving--work together in compressing the rock, which crumbles due to its lower breaking point than the stationary plate, which is often made of manganese.Common factors used to determine which jaw crusher to use include the size of the crushing chamber's opening, the dimensions of the chamber itself and the design and material of the stationary plate. In some situations, a jaw crusher will produce the kind of crushed rock desired. In these instances, less-durable plates will suffice.Rock crushers come in many shapes and sizes, from the strictly handheld to the complex industrial sizes, which can crush tons of rock and ore in one day. Making your own rock crusher invariably requires you or someone you know to possess some basic welding skills. Iron is the ore of choice when it comes to breaking rocks into hand-sized pieces, and a skilled or even semi-skilled welder are the only people who can shape iron.
