Getting Short-Term Maintenance For Your Power i Machine

I purchased a three-year maintenance contract when I bought my Power7 machine in 2010. The contract runs out in May but I need extended maintenance through July when I'm installing a new machine and returning the old machine to the leasing company. How do I extend my hardware/software maintenance for only two months without having to buy a one-year maintenance contract? This is a fairly common situation and one that IBM provides an out for in their maintenance contracts. Here's how you can sign a one- or multi-year maintenance contract for your existing machine and then cancel the contract after you replace the machine in two months.Talk to your IBM business partner or IBM and ask them to provide a maintenance quote for your old machine. You'll probably want to price out both a one-year contract and a multi-year contract, so you can see which contract gives you a less expensive quarterly price. You want to pay this contract on a quarterly basis, because you'll only be using it for a few months. Negotiate your best price.
The maintenance contract will reference and include an "IBM Master Services Attachment for ServiceElite" or a similar document that lays out the terms of service for your hardware and software maintenance. This may be a Master Services attachment that you signed in the past (maybe when you bought your machine) or one that you will sign with your new maintenance contract. The important thing is to get the Master Services attachment that will cover extended hardware and software maintenance for your machine.Under the "Renewal and Termination" section of the Master Services attachment, look for a clause that has wording similar to the following text:The key phrase here is "if you permanently remove it from production use." IBM allows you to cancel a maintenance contract if you dispose of or stop using a covered machine (removed from production use).
So since you're just keeping the machine until you can replace it and sending the covered machine back to the leasing company, you can take advantage of this clause and purchase maintenance from May through July before canceling the contract. Note that you could also take advantage of the production use clause if you had bought a machine and you were selling the old machine. The production use clause should cover both situations.Double-check with your business partner or IBM to make sure this is their understanding on canceling maintenance. However, I have used the production use clause before to cancel maintenance contracts on machines I've taken out of service, so my guess is that IBM won't have any objections to you using it now. But it's always nice to ask for verification.

Chicago Machine having trouble enforcing its will in primary

The petri dish of Democrat candidates in the special election Democrat primary for Jesse Jackson, Jr.'s former congressional seat remains teeming with candidates, despite the Chicago Democratic Machine's heavies being deployed to empty it out.So far only two have caved, Toi Hutchinson who dropped out of the race over the weekend, and Patrick Brutus, which leaves Machine pick Robin Kelly and former congresswoman Debbie Halvorson vying for the top spot in the slate of many.Today another candidate in the race, Alderman Anthony Beale, is reporting that he's been under pressure to drop out, though he won't name names. In an interview with Chicago Mag's Carol Felsenthal published today, Beale said that he had received a call to drop out, although he's "not at liberty" to divulge who, and that it was "absolutely not" an option at this point.
The Machine is having to contend with the potential of a splintered Democrat ticket that could leave their Kelly open to challenge despite whatever machinations they deploy to help her win the primary. Beale, an African American who has been attending every candidate forum (unlike Kelly) along with Debbie Halvorson, has been able to amass both contributions and support that make him a credible threat.Felsenthal wonders who put the "strong arm" on Hutchinson to make her drop out over the weekend, settling on either anti-gun maven and Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle or the massive expenditures in attack ads by New York Mayor Bloomberg's PAC, now estimated at $2M.Dean Dr Sandhya Kamat said she has requested the BMC authorities to prioritise the new machine's purchase. When asked to explain the delay in the machine's procurement, Dr Kamat said she took charge only recently and hasn't had the time to go through the old files.
Under a post-Rincon legal scenario, tribes making general fund payments to the state could seek to reduce or end the payments. If the state refused, a tribe could file a lawsuit that presumably would end the same way as the Rincon case. The Brown administration believes that the Rincon case applies only to future casino deals, not previous ones that all sides had agreed to, spokesman Evan Westrup said.It was unclear last week if any tribes have expressed an interest in re-opening their agreements in light of the Rincon deal. Representatives of Inland tribes did not respond to requests for comment and the governor's office declined to comment.Crowell, the Rincon attorney, said it is unknown how courts would view an attempt to change an existing compact.

Human body an amazing machine

The human body is a magnificent machine that does amazing things. Have you wondered what your spleen does? Why do we have a gallbladder? Why is having good digestion important? How significant are the kidneys, liver and pancreas? Where does fat go when you lose weight? Are we taking our skin for granted? How about our teeth?Every part of the body plays a big role in our overall health. They're all there for a reason. The body also has company, a lot of company. Just last year, we learned from the Human Microbiome Project that we have more than 100 trillion of germs, which are found on the skin, up the nose and in the gut. There are so many microbes that they collectively weigh a few pounds. That's amazing stuff.
Doctors go to school for years to learn how all of these components work in concert and what to do when one or more of those parts is thrown off.We may not find it important to learn about which organ does what or which process keeps us alive. We may think that we should leave it up to the doctors to figure all of that out.
I think it's quite helpful to our health to learn about the body's processes and systems. It'll force us to look for signs that things are going wrong. We'll be more mindful of what we put in the body and how our body reacts to certain foods and activity. When you understand how the body works, you'll be more conscious of getting adequate water, sleep and exercise. You'll know to recognize when you're experiencing adverse reactions from certain medications or food.
Science isn't just for scientists. Dietitians undergo vigor study to be able to plan a patients' diet.Google Flights Becomes The Internet's Latest Travel Time Suck.Personal trainers must be proficient in the study of the body, particularly the muscular and skeletal systems to effectively draw up a plan for clients trying to change their bodies. The rest of us should become an expert in "me" by learning the basics and becoming aware of what's going on in your own body. Appreciate it and respect it. There's only one like it.A highly-evolved interface between airplane and its software means that the software can draw insight from the plane, reading control settings as well as sensors to improve its piloting performance. "An experienced human pilot might have [flown] 10,000 to 20,000 hours," says Langford. "We already have operating systems that have hundreds of thousands of flying hours on them. Every anomaly gets built into the memory of the system. As the systems learn, you only have to see something once in order to know how to respond. The [unmanned aircraft] has flight experience that no human pilot will ever build up in his lifetime."

Google Flights Becomes The Internet's Latest Travel Time Suck

Until Kayak Explore debuted in 2011, rapidly comparing the prices of various trips was all but impossible. Since then it has -- thanks to the app's questionable functionality -- been merely difficult. Now, Google has googlified the whole thing, making it possible for travelers to dynamically search for affordable airfares to a region, rather than playing an endless game of guess and check. The problem with guess and check, or looking up fares to one destination then another, was and is that airfares are not governed by any sort logic transparent to those outside the airline industry. No one would guess that a flight from New York to Paris in February would cost basically the same as a flight to Tashkent. The whole thing is illogical. The joy of Google Flights' new regions feature, which allows potential bookers to see costs throughout regions, is that it gives travelers a chance to take advantage of airlines' illogic.
No, there aren't that many people looking to travel to Uzbekistan. That's hard to deny. What is also clearly true is that one reason so few people want to travel to Uzbekistan is that very few people even consider it as an option (that and a dismal human rights record). Map searching allows travelers to be open to options rather than requiring that they have an encyclopedic knowledge of the world's cities. The new feature is not really a major breakthrough, but it absolutely streamlines the enjoyable process of pondering possibilities."Oh yeah," thinks the traveler bound for Turkey. "Maybe I'll go to Odessa instead. It is cheaper and I like drinking myself into gutters."
This thought -- and do pardon our hypothetical user's adherence to cultural cliches -- is why using map-based fare searches is not merely a practical way to travel impractically. The whole thing is a good bit of fun.As such, it joins AFAR's "Spin The Globe" Facebook app, which is exactly what it sounds like, Kayak Explore, which we've discussed, and Plane Finder, which allows users to find almost every commercial jet on Earth, in the elite club of online travel-related time sucks. Each of these sites, despite having some stated purpose, is optimized for aimlessness and, as such, can serve as a sort of methadone for anchored travel junkies. Mental exploration is almost as much fun as physical exploration. A distant second to be sure, but still a pretty darn good cubicle diversion.Google's new toy was clearly designed to help travelers save money by making slight concessions like flying into John Wayne instead of LAX, but it might prove a better way of convincing them to fly into Inyokern instead.

Various Crushers Applied in Rock Pulverizing

Jaw crushers are most often employed in large mining or quarrying operations. A jaw crusher is designed to crush large pieces of ore or rock between two plates or jaws. One jaw is stationary, and the other is mounted so that the two jaws form a V-shape. The second jaw moves back and forth relative to the first jaw, crushing the material as it moves downward, until the pieces are small enough to fall through the opening at the point of the V. Multiple jaw crushers of the jaw type are often employed in a series, gradually reducing the particle size.An jaw crusher is a machine designed to grind or pulverize various types of rock into small, relatively uniform pieces. Jaw crushers are used in mining, quarrying and recycling operations. Several types of crushers can perform this task including hammer mills, roller crushers, jaw crushers and gyratory crushers. An jaw crusher can be relatively small, like the mobile units used for reclaiming recycled asphalt, or huge machines that can process thousands of tons of material a day.
Hammer mills are machines with a rotating shaft that is fitted with free-swinging hammers. This assembly is enclosed by a drum and fed by a hopper. A screen keeps material inside the drum until the rotating hammers pulverize it into pieces of the desired size. These types of jaw crushers are commonly used to produce crushed stone for landscaping or to process recycled asphalt. Hammer mills are sometimes known as impact crushers. These types of crushers are similar to jaw crushers, but employ a cone shaped hopper with a smaller cone-shaped crushing head that gyrates around the inside of the hopper in an eccentric movement rather than rotating, crushing the source material until the particles are small enough to fall through the opening at the bottom. Cone crushers are very similar to gyratory crushers, but the crushing chamber is generally designed with less steeply sloping sides.
Another type of crusher used to pulverize softer types of rock like sandstone is the roller mill. The rough pieces of rock are fed into a mechanism consisting of rollers that are usually fitted with teeth that interlock with teeth on an opposite roller as they rotate. These teeth grasp the pieces of rock to be crushed and force them between the rollers where they are crushed and fed out the other side.Crushing cavity depth, work successive, high productive capacity, the unit consumption is low. Compare with the same give mine mouth width jaw crusher, the productive capacity of gyratory crusher is more than twice as it, and the current drain per ton of gyratory crusher is Low 0.5-1.2 times than jaw crusher.
